Now I m talk u about tricks of maxima and minima at a given point.
Let we are interested to find maxima or minima for f(x). ie ..f(x) = ax²+bx+c
at a point x= a
Solution --
1-First differentiate it.
We obtained.
I.e.. 2ax+b
2- now put x= a
If it is +ve then maxima , -ve then minima, if zero
3- differentiate again then put x=a
If positive then minima or negative then maxima.
If zero .
4 similarly differentiate till u get non - zero value after putting x=a
Then
If u obtained non-zero at nth derivative
If n is odd -
Obtained positive - maxima
Negative - minima
If n is even-
Obtained positive - minima
Negative - maxima
